Adelaide songstress Mary Webb has revealed the first taste off her debut album, the intriguingly evocative Gecko Fingers, premiereing today on theMusic.com.au.
The song, a darkly bubbling ode to the sometimes tumultuous relationship between sisters, places Webb’s unique vocals front and centre, draping longing finger plucked guitar and stormy keys around them. It’s a sign of whats to come from the singer’s debut album Love Like Planets, which is due to drop 16 February (pre-order here).
The themes surrounding Gecko Fingers are close to Webb’s heart and family.
“Growing up with seven years between my sister and I in age, we had a lot of love for each other but there was also a lot of anger and conflict,” Webb said.
“As adults we are very close, and have come to a calm understanding of each other.”
Webb is in the middle of an Australian tour with shows still set for Adelaide, New South Wales and Victoria; for more information, head to theGuide.
