Sydney's Hedge Fund are stepping back into the spotlight today with the release of their confident new single True Romance, premiering on TheMusic.com.au.
The tune is jam-packed with feverish emotion, toeing the line between a spacey new wave-esq sound and crashing, impassioned post-punk.
It's a combination which reflects the turmoil that lead singer Will Colvin drew on when writing the song.
"True Romance was written as a reaction to the death of my father and the breakdown of my marriage, the loss of the two most important people in my life in a very short period of time," Colvin said.
"The lyrics are about grief, frustration, failure and the lies that we tell ourselves about who we are as human beings. It's a song about being wrenched into a situation which caused an immense loss of faith in reality."
Hedge Fund will launch their new single this Friday (16 March) at Sydney's Zodiac Club night; for more information, head to the Facebook event.
