The Melbourne indie-pop-rock four-piece release their debut album next week.

More Big League More Big League

Melbourne indie-pop-rock four-piece Big League are just about to release their debut album, I Thought Thunderbolt, and, ahead of its released, The Music is chuffed to share with you the second single from the record, Premature Enthusiasm.

The song — and the 11-track album from which it's taken — represents the culmination of almost five years' work for the band, who first convened in 2013 and have been steadily building up their reputation for reliable, infectious '90s-touched indie goodness ever since.

Drawing influence from the likes of Guided By Voices, Superchunk and Archers Of Loaf, Premature Enthusiasm follows in the footsteps of previous single Best In Show, both capably demonstrating the band's aptitude for injecting their sound with a distinctly Australian air.

I Thought Thunderbolt was recorded and mixed by Joshua Whitehead at Crosstown Soundstudio, with mastering by Mikey Young. It lands on Wednesday 20 September through revered Melburnian label Off The Hip Records.

Big League will be playing a trio of launch shows around the place over the next few months; they'll hit Woody's Bar, in Melbourne, on Saturday 23 September, with further gigs lined up in Brisbane (Milk Bar, 27 October) and Adelaide (Hotel Metro, 24 November).
