Alice Skye22-year-old rising star Alice Skye is today unleashing her latest single Friends With Feelings, premiering exclusively on theMusic.com.au.
As soon as the tune begins, the listener is drawn into Skye’s world through her deeply absorbing musical arrangements and the intimate lyrics, taken from years’ worth of journal entries, that she sings with moving clarity.
"I’m deeply preoccupied with identity, it’s something that gives me stability - understanding my culture and who I am," Skye said.
The song is the title track from the singer's upcoming debut LP which is due to drop this Friday (6 April).
"This whole album for me is a reminder of where I was, where I’ve been and where I’m still going."
The proud Wergaia woman was the recipient of the inaugural First Peoples Emerging Artist Award earlier in March which saw her pick up $2,000 cash, studio time and mentoring from Briggs and Bad Apples.
Skye will team up with Emily Wurramara to debut her album in a live format, with plans for a mid-2018 tour to be announced soon.
