Single title? Semi Polenta
What's the song about? Hangovers, bread, Mt Lawley, going to see bands, being 30 - just the usual life things really.
How long did it take to write/record? It's hard to put a time on things. It floats around in my head for weeks and months. Comes out usually in two or three sittings. Recorded it in six hours.
Is this track from a forthcoming release/existing release? I think we will go all out album style on this little ripper. I've got a few songs in the bank. My friend Michael Strong from Brainiac studios has been helping me do it lo-fi.
What was inspiring you during the song's writing and recording? Trying to find a place somewhere between the early '90s LA indie sound and the modern Australian punk stylings done lo-fi with pop sensibilities.
We'll like this song if we like... the second line of the third verse in The Pixies song Debaser.
Do you play it differently live? Haven't played it live yet. but will be doing solo as I venture around the suburbs and some regional towns. And getting a bit crazy for our city show.
When and where is your launch/next gigs? Jul 20, Freehand Winery, Denmark (solo); Jul 22, Six Degrees, Albany (solo); Aug 4, The Sewing Room, Perth (with band); Aug 15, Clancy’s, Canning Bridge (solo)
