What’s the song about? Shaking the monkey from your back.

How long did it take to write/record? Started writing it in 2012, finished it in 2013. Wrote it in Melbourne, India and Daylesford. Recorded it over a few months, in Melbourne and Lavers Hill during 2014 and 2015.

Is this track from a forthcoming release/existing release? It’s from my next release called AB-EP coming out later this year through Ronnie Records. There will be six tracks and some awesome film clips too. I’m very proud and excited about this one!

What was inspiring you during the song’s writing and recording? The places I was travelling to and the life lessons I was learning. I moved from the city to the country. I travelled to India. Got dumped, fell in love, got sober. Lots of shit.

We’ll like this song if we like... Blondie maybe? It’s a bit retro, a bit rock and a bit pop.

Do you play it differently live? As a band we make it work with guitars, drums and bass. It’s pretty much the same. I play solo stripped back on electric too, with delay pedal and distortion.

When and where is your launch/next gig? 16 Jul at The Workers Club. Sydney singer-songwriter Gordi is playing as well. Will be great!
