Raising Fun

What cause are you raising funds for: Following four years of writing, recording, touring and performing across the globe we're ready to release our debut album this July. Before that though we're working to secure funds for the launch party and a new music video for follow up single Suffer Kate. We've got local film director Stefan Redanovich, who has recently returned from his SXSW showcase, on board to produce another killer clip to follow up on the last one he did for us, Smile… We can't reveal anything about the clip yet apart from to say it's going to be pretty special.

How did this show come about? We did a shout out on the Facebook page to come up with ideas for the fundraiser, we then received suggestions from the fans to hold a Bikini Car Wash, a Quiz Night and a Bachelor Auction. After that everybody just started volunteering and it snowballed from there. A special mention should go out to Kim from Shoot The Wicked Witch for finding volunteers for the car wash!

Who's playing and why did you select those acts? Well in the evening we have Tomás Ford doing the quiz with his brutal MC skills and fine outfits. We then have Jake England and Duchess Silk hosting the auction for our eligible bachelors (all local musicians) including myself (Sean) and Paul from The Spitfires, Stewart Bank from Wash, Benny Mayhem and Will Stoker… Hopefully we all get bids, otherwise the egos of our bachelors might be irreparably damaged forever.

How do people get tickets? To reserve a table for the quiz and bachelor auction simply email sean@thespitfires.net to book, tickets are $10 at the door from midday.

Is there anything people can do post-gig to support the cause? I think the best thing to do is get online to our Facebook page and thespitfires.net and see what we're up to, we do shows, flog CDs and T-Shirts… The more merch we sell the better our recordings and music videos will be. Also come to the album launch at Amplifier in July to see the how the fundraising pays off.

The Spitfires' Bikini Car Wash, Quiz Night, and Bachelor Auction is happening Sunday 29 April, Rosemount Hotel, North Perth and Friday 4 May, Settlers Tavern, Margaret River
