The Social Club is a fairly new establishment, having gone through only one summer season so far. Patrons vary here quite a bit, from hipsters to hippies, families, locals, and tourists. Bands come and go and so do their respective muso crowd.

If you’re after a substantial pub meal, they’ve got you covered. Choose from favourites like the parma, fish and chips, or branch out with a tofu stack: marinated tofu, grilled eggplant, zucchini, spinach and red pepper coulis, served with chips. Vegetarians are catered to further with a faux dog and a tempura stuffed mushroom burger. An extensive pizza and snacks menu with satisfy the meat-eaters.
To drink this summer, the Club offers up a Watermelon Cooler. It is just the right amount of sweet without being overbearing: fresh watermelon juice, gin, lemon, and apple schnapps. It is designed to be strong in the right way and otherwise light, tart and refreshing. Enjoy day or night. South and Western Australia are on show in the wine list in a big way, boasting Yering Station, Matua Valley and Kirrihill among an all-Australian line-up. For beer lovers, happy hour is from 4-6.30pm, Tuesday through Friday.
Newtown Social Club is in fact related to Northcote Social Club, they have the same parents/owners, and so does the iconic Corner Hotel. The SandringhamHotel used to stand where the Social Club is now. After a massive revamp, there are no more pokies and gaming machines and a brand new band room pumping out live music most nights.
