BAR SIDE

The locals love Coogee Diggers – the eight-month-olds to the 80-year-olds alike.

One of the oldest RSL clubs in Sydney – formed some time just before 1935 by a few World War 1 diggers – Coogee Diggers features a fantastic sunny outdoor terrace, with just enough shade, that opens right up into the entire club. Sounds pretty inviting to us.

To welcome you into the warmer months, if you’re after something a little different to your favourite wines and beers, Coogee Diggers recommends their house-made ginger lemonade with Tanqueray, house-made sweet tea with Sailor Jerry or a Young Henry’snatural lager. Pair that with well-priced gastro pub staples like pasta, risotto, bangers and mash, nachos, not one but three kinds of fish, sangers and burgers, steaks, ribs, salads, pizza or the Nepalese curry that’s always on the specials – the recipe’s thanks to head chef Kris’ mum!

It’s hard to imagine that one location can offer gastro-pub dining, drinks to suit any taste, a newly-opened coffee shop, a fitness centre, pinball club, sports bar, live music and entertainment (there’s live gigs in The Bunker four nights a week!), full TAB facilities and is also family-friendly at the same time, but somehow, Coogee Diggers has covered all those bases.

FUN FACT

Coogee Diggers’ indoor pool has been a place where the local kids have learnt how to swim since the mid-‘60s.

OUR DEAL

$10 dinners from Monday – Thursday, new specials every week and Smokehouse Sundays – served on the outside terrace. There’s also trivia on Thursdays! If you’re still working out Christmas plans, Coogee Diggers will host a Christmas buffet, 25 Dec, 11.30am – 2.30pm.
