BAR SIDE

Bill’s Bar quite literally serves bites, dishing up a selection of small and large plates that are designed to share.

On the lighter side, there is a ceviche of the day with avocado and chilli, or duck and manchego cheese cigars with green tomato relish. For something larger, try the baby camembert with picked mushrooms; pulled pork with young gun condiments; or the poached barramundi with puy lentils, lemon and radish. The Hellfire Oven also produces daily specials, from house-cured bacon to roasted beef cheeks.

The extensive cocktail list has recently been joined by the summer-appropriate Femme Fatale – vodka, peach, elderflower, lime and apple. Wines change with the season to match the food, of which there are 27 to choose from. There are bottled beers aplenty, from White Rabbit to Paulaner Hefe-Weisbier, to delicious craft longnecks.

The new revamp of the bar is retro, eclectic and reflects a cumulative taste, showcasing a mix of modern bench tops with recycled furniture. The courtyard is the ideal spot for the warmer months, surrounded by wood panelling; Bill’s sometimes screens old Hollywood films. It has plenty of outdoor space with seating, a perfect spot to enjoy that Femme Fatale. Bill’s also hosts jazz on Sundays!

FUN FACT

The bar is named after the founder of the original Leederville Hotel and the first landowner in Leederville, William Leeder. It is also inspired by the ‘ghost of old Kanga’. Kanga, the previous owner of a nearby betting shop and Leederville Hotel resident is said to haunt the building to this day.
