Progfest Focus: Toehider

Answered by: Mike Mills

Where does your band fall under the 'progressive' umbrella? I would say it's good progressive.

What's your personal definition of prog? What distinguishes it from other genres? Progressive music to me is 'do whatever you want' music. Take any sound, any style and mix it with any other sound and style and bam!

Do you feel Australia's prog scene is on the rise at the moment? Progressive rock has always been a thing but, yeah! It seems like it's doing pretty well at getting recognition abroad lately.

Is this your first Progfest? If not what's your fave memory, if so what are you expecting? Lord, no, I reckon Toehider has played almost every Progfest in Melbourne ever since it was called the OzProg benefit show back in the days of OzProg.

If you could get absolutely anything on the rider, what would you ask for? Just heaps of Gatorades and banana bread.

Which of the other acts are you most excited to see on the bill? Everyone! Orsome Welles, Leprous, Voyager, Enlight - all the bands.

Do you have any advice for punters coming to see you at Progfest? Do what makes you feel good. Dance, scream, fold your arms and nod quietly. It's not up to me to tell you how to enjoy yourself, ha ha.
