We're stoked to premiere the very first single from Sydney dream-pop newcomer Small Voices today, the brainchild of Jack Perry from far north NSW.
The tinkling synths and Perry's calming vocals in Russian Letter Syndrome are backed by an A+ jazz band, owing to Perry's need to make things as unique as possible.
"The vocals were recorded in an aviary-like room that stuck out in a garden full of trees and noisy birds in North Sydney. If you listen close enough, you can hear cockatoos," Perry explains. "I grew up in a small country town. I think the allure of music has always drawn me to the idea that there is something bigger out there."
He says, "I want to make music that’ll turn a rainbow green… Songs that make you feel like you’re driving down the freeway with the wind in your hair when you're actually hiding inside your panic room… and you forget about the axe murderer."
