Melbourne-based pop-punk outfit Self Talk — who include members from some of the city's finest, including Ceres and Skyways Are Highways — are continuing to assert themselves as a head-turn-worthy presence as they unveil their newest single, Hypocrite, proudly premiering today on The Music.
Hypocrite marks the third single from the nascent band, following stellar receptions for earlier efforts Fist Fight (July 2015) and Tiny Engines (November 2015), but is only the first slice to come from their impending debut EP, Seeing What I Want To See, which is due out mid-year.
As part of the EP, the lush, polished track was pulled together with the assistance of lauded producer Aaron Dobos (British India, Slow Turismo) and provides an anthemic, infectious taste of sparkly yet rough-hewn angst-pop that serves as a mouth-watering appetiser for the treats yet to come when the extended player makes its way into the world in a few months.
In the intervening time, keep an eye on the band's Facebook page to stay on top of their movements in the lead-up to, and immediate wake of, Seeing What I Want To See's release. With a live history that already includes support slots for the likes of Endless Heights, Brawlers and local perennial punk faves Luca Brasi — and a growing reputation to match — it's a safe bet to expect that we'll only be hearing more from, and seeing more of, this talented troupe in the months to come.
