The Gold Coast four-piece will share their debut album, Prehab, with the world on May 31st..
There's a lot to love in Gold Coast four-piece Radolescent, and it's something they're quickly taking advantage of. Since the release of their debut EP, 2017's four-track Scrape Ya Plate, the rockers have blossomed into an act that champions everything Australia seems to adore in the surf-rock brands of acts like Skegss and Good Doogs but in a bit of a different way, taking that light-hearted energy and pumping it full of punk-y guitar riffs and soaring vocals which are as catchy as they are rough and hazy; marrying that fine line between DIY-esque and slickness. It's something that the band have continued to flesh out with every release since - Drug Fiend and The Ballad of Lynn Howl in 2018, followed by 406 this year - and something that'll no doubt be front and centre as they strive towards the release of their debut album Prehab, which will arrive independently on May 31st.
On arrival, the album promises to showcase the many sides of a band perhaps more complicated as they may seem, showcasing their versatility in the guitar-backed rock world while hopefully solidifying their place as one of the scene's most promising rising names. It's something they're leaning towards on the album's next tease too, arriving today in the form of their new single, Tuck Me In. Tuck Me In is four-minutes-thirty of that signature Radolescent rukus, with thick guitar melodies and thrashing percussion meeting catchy vocals, which lyrically, detail that haziness of that post-party crash. "Tuck Me In is a song depicting the typical comedown of the party animal," says vocalist Isaac Atkinson. "Whether it be sleep paralysis or self-induced psychosis, this song depicts the absolute mind fuckery that is experienced on Monday, Tuesday and sometimes even Wednesdays. Don’t be fooled by the pretty voices; this baby is darker then you would expect..."
