Adelaide modern-folk songstress Naomi Keyte has unveiled Undertow, the gorgeous first single from her upcoming debut album, and The Music is stoked to have nabbed the premiere honours for the glistening, moody track.
Recorded and produced by Nick Huggins, Undertow builds on gently plucked guitar and Keyte's distinct voice to pull the listener in with its irresistible instrumentation blossoming to include hushed, brushed drums, steady bass and atmospheric, flitting backing miscellanea, amounting to an alluring track rich with a sense of the melancholic and mysterious. Or, if that's a bit too verbose: it's just really bloody good, OK?
It's the sort of song that warrants its own launch show, and that's exactly what Keyte is doing on 31 July at the Grace Emily Hotel in her home town; they'll be joined by the loveable scamps in Tassie outfit Quivers. See theGuide for booking details.
The album will mark Keyte's first recorded output since her excellent 2013 EP Edge Of Morning, and its release date is set to be announced soon. Stay tuned to her Facebook page for more information.
