With a heap of huge shows coming up, the stage is set for a massive 2018..
Sydney-based hip hop kid DOBBY is a true quadriple threat. The exciting young rapper also knows his way around a drumkit (to put things lightly), and is on the verge of releasing a debut EP that, as you'll learn below, he wrote and produced himself. His super smooth (and damn quick) flow simultaneously harkens back to Aussie hip hop or year's gone by, while still feeling fresh to 2018. He just released his debut single Peregrine, and we're stoked to jump onboard the hype train to premiere its video clip, which you can check out below along with a short little Q&A to get to know him a little better.
You can also grab the single itself via iTunes.

I’m a drummer and rapper (sometimes a drapper) under the rap name DOBBY. I’m a proud Filipino and Aboriginal musician, with my mob hailing out in Murrawarri country, Brewarrina NSW.
What kinda tunes we talkin’?
My first single Peregrine just released everywhere, and I’ve got an EP that I’ll be teasing over the next couple months! The project is a window into my passions, values and pursuits.
Production/writing process:
I wrote and produced all six tracks. I had the absolute privilege of working with Tom Garnett at Rec Studios mixing there and Andrew Edgson working mastering magic over at 301 Studios. Each track offers something different, and I guess it all leads to Peregrine, the final song in the EP. I’m chuffed to have these lyrics and beats out in the world, and really excited for you’s to hear it.
Can you tell us about your new single, Peregrine?
The Peregrine Falcon is the fastest animal in the world, but only when it swoops in on its prey. This is my swoop, I’m here and this is who I am, I’m about to show you what I do and do it well.
The video for Peregrine is beautifully captured by the talented brother Benjamin Ling, and also features great mate Michael Brady from our band Jackie Brown Jr. The Peregrine music video means so much to me as a musician, rapper and as a drummer.
Any shows coming up?
Yes!
I’ll be supporting Masta Ace at the Factory Theatre on 9th March alongside some other dope dope artists!
I’m performing and speaking at the 4Elements Hip Hop Festival in Bankstown happening on 9th and 10th of March respectively!
I’m supporting a dope band called Sagrada Familiar at Lazybones on 16th March!
From there I’ll be doing music workshops and connecting with culture on Country with my cousin Lily Shearer out in Brewarrina for the annual Baiame’s Ngunnhu festival over March and April!
What’s the rest of the year have in store?
I think this year is gonna be heavy with gigs for the most part! I’m excited to get my music out there and perform a lot in 2018.
Where can we hear more of your music?
