PREMIERE: Jessica Says - Xanax Baby

More Jessica Says Jessica Says Profile

Following the recent release of her new album, Do With Me What U WillJessica Says is today dropping the stunning new music video for her track, Xanax Baby, premiering right here on theMusic.com.au.

"This song is about addiction, obviously," the Melbourne artist says of the song.

"I suppose what I see as a peculiarly femme kind of addiction, where it's endorsed by a doctor and it's quite closeted and cosy in a way, until your life implodes. It's worth noting that the legislation around prescribing benzos has changed since this was written.

"There are still many women in my life who have lived as slaves to this drug. The video is about when you're in a destructive, floundering relationship, and you try to go for a romantic weekend in the country to save it, except in this case the relationship isn't with a boyfriend, it's with a substance, or with yourself. My hair and nightgown are inspired by Valley Of The Dolls, which is still such an important depiction of femme addiction."

In support of the new LP, Says will embark on an east coast tour of Australia next month, where she will be joined by a string of local talent, including Gussy, Emerson Snowe and Sarah Mary Chadwick.
