PREMIERE: Domini Forster - Then You Stop

Melburnian indie-folk songstress Domini Forster has revealed the beautifully haunting — albeit slightly morbid — video for Then You Stop today, premiering exclusively on theMusic.com.au.

Forster explains, "It’s about death — about missing someone; and that strange combination of grief and joy that death can bring up. I feel like our culture can have a tendency to avoid intimacy around death, and we all miss out as a result."

The video features the painful, often bittersweet process of burying a loved one — played by Forster, as she is washed by two women and then laid to rest in a coffin around her family.

Forster adds, "We wanted the funeral scene to have a realistically hand-made feel, so my Dad and I built the coffin together from scratch. He thoroughly enjoyed telling his local plywood supplier that he needed some sheets to make a coffin for his daughter, while I was standing right next to him."

Then You Stop, bringing to mind the vocal prowess of Regina Spektor or Imogen Heap, hails from Forster's album Raven, out on 10 March.
