"The idea was to kinda take inspiration from some of the old Jesus & Mary Chain clips..."
With a debut EP under their belt, Melbourne underground rockers Contrast are gearing up to release their first full-length, and boy are they excited. As are we, as we premiere the video for Livewire today, a song bringing to mind The Church and The Go-Betweens, packaged in a sweet little video shot on super 8 film.
The band's James Thomson says, "'I filmed and edited it and our drummer Tom helped out. We shot it on super 8 and 16mm film. The idea was to kinda take inspiration from some of the old Jesus & Mary Chain clips as well as mix in a bunch of other random urban/industrial looking places around Melbourne."
With the band borne from a love of skateboarding and the Aussie underground scene, the clip is a lo-fi homage to their love for post-punk and loud, raucous tunes.
Contrast are due to release their debut album shortly, recorded by King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard's Stu Mackenzie.
