Local country-and-blues luminary Cash Savage and her band The Last Drinks are freshly back Down Under following a thunderous campaign across Europe in recent times, turning their attention to an impending pair of shows in Melbourne and Adelaide by unveiling their brand new single and video, Rat-a-tat-tat, premiering today on theMusic.com.au.

By all accounts, the band's European sojourn was a riotous success, seeing them woo their way through crowds in six countries — including three festival audiences in the Czech Republic — and bringing Rat-a-tat-tat to life during a two-day recording detour in Prague, with studio contributions coming from engineer Amak Golden and post-production team Nao Anzai and Nick Finch. As we've come to expect from Savage and her backing crew, Rat-a-tat-tat is a dirty-strut-friendly, blues-soaked country cut replete with staccato, onomatopoeiac chorus refrain spat-sung like bullets from a gun — so, yeah, it's a damn good time.

The single and video's release comes ahead of the band's appearance at the Australian Worldwide Music Expo in Melbourne, for which they'll take to the stage at Max Watt's House Of Music on Friday 13 November along with headliner Henry Wagons and fellow guests Ruby BootsRaised By Eagles and DJ Sean Simmons. Following that performance, Cash Savage & The Last Drinks head across to Adelaide for a spot at Thebarton's Wheatsheaf Hotel on 22 November to ostensibly round out their year, but with acclaimed second full-length The Hypnotiser hitting its third birthday next year, one can expect we'll be hearing even more news out of the Cash Savage camp over the next few months.
