Police Angry At Gig Riot No Show

Police are angry at a young band who called the riot police on their own gig – but noone showed up.

A young band who called the riot police on one of their own gigs have been accused of wasting police resources when no one showed up to the show.

The Yackandandah-based outfit had feared that their sell-out in-the-round concert at the local community hall was going to cause a spill-over on to the regional town's street. There were concerns that eager locked-out fans might smudge the nearby general store window.

Three hours before doors were due to open the band placed a call to police, advising them that the gig would probably need to be shut down in four hours time. When police arrived they found the band playing to no one but the bassist's girlfriend.

It transpired that the peer-to-peer online ticketing system set up by the drummer's best friend's uncle from Moe had glitched. It seems it was actually the Mi-Sex tribute show at the Moe Mall that had sold out – not the Yackandandah gig.

A senior police official told SPA Confidential today that they were investigating the matter and “the absolute waste of police time and recourses.”

It is understood that when the police arrived the band refused to speak to the authorities and instead began playing a cover of Beastie Boys' Fight For Your Right. The bassist also threw his picks at an officer.

A social media post from the band the next morning read, “Respect to all our fans! Even tho the cops shut us down we will not be silenced! Donate to our crowdfunding campaign to fund memorial t-shirts here.”
