No matter the time of year, you can’t deny a good gig by the beach. Here’s a list of venues around Perth where you can have a bite, a drink and, most importantly, see your favourite local artists by the West Coast.

A West Coast classic.

Located in Scarborough, the venue is a 1970s time machine, never straying away from its iconic patterns and mid-century décor.

The Indi Bar has hosted some of the biggest names in Aussie music, such as John Butler TrioGreat Gable, Teen Jesus And The Jean Teasers, and British India.

The intimate stage set-up is accompanied by outdoor seating, poolside drinks and a games room.

El Grotto – Scarborough

This Mexican-styled bar is located on The Esplanade, facing the sunset coast.  

Open seven days a week, there will always be a perfect time for you to visit this beachside spot. You can expect live DJs and unplugged sessions, alongside tacos and what are said to be the best margaritas in Perth.

Freo Social – Fremantle

Dubbed as Fremantle’s ‘newest and oldest venue’, Freo Social offers a large entertainment hall holding the main stage accompanied by a sidebar and a beer garden for live DJ sets.

After the success of converting this old Artillery Drill Hall into a Music Venue, it has seen the likes of Matt Corby, The Kooks, Tash Sultana, and The Rubens.

Gage Roads Brewery – Fremantle

Nestled in Fremantle’s ports, Gage Roads is well-known for its seasonal brews, variety of events and laidback atmosphere.

The brewery is currently hosting Live And Local, a free event running all summer with acts such as Joan & The Giants, Shag Rock, Letters to Lions delivering the local beachy vibes.

Port Beach Brewery – Fremantle

Dubbed as a music hub, this spot in Fremantle comprises a lively garden bar and a large main stage.

We Are Lost Festival on March 2nd will be held at the brewery with a similar layout to the previous electronic event Cargo, where 16 shipping containers were stacked on top of each other to create the ultimate music and drink venue. You can find more information about the festival here.

Cottesloe Beach Hotel – Cottesloe

Whether you’re coming straight off the beach for an afternoon drink or seeking a Sunday sesh to get a little more out of your weekend, CBH is a laidback beachside venue perfect for summer activities.

With live sets and acoustic sessions, the venue is open until late throughout summer, creating the perfect atmosphere to unwind and socialise while feeling the sea breeze.

Hillary’s Beach Park - Whitford Nodes

Recently undergoing a revamp, Hillary’s Beach Park is a popular coastal spot welcoming all ages to a lush green space and views of Sorrento Beach.

On March 15th, the indie rock festival Lookout will make its way to Hillary’s Beach Park, where names like Jet, The Veronicas, Grinspoon and Spiderbait will be turning up for a unique concert experience on the coast.

The River Hotel – Margaret River

For those heading down WA’s South Coast, The River Hotel In Margaret River is well worth the visit.

Not far from the world's best surf breaks and vineyards, The River Hotel is a cosy venue with a beer garden, restaurant and function space that has seen legends such as Paul Dempsey, Stella Donnelly and San Cisco pass through and will be welcoming local acts like POND, Ghost Care and Fool Nelson in coming months.
