There has been a near-total ban on abortion in the state of Missouri since 2022.

Pop star Olivia Rodrigo is using her massive GUTS world tour platform to advocate for reproductive rights and ensure access to abortion care across the United States.
At her St. Louis, Missouri, tour stop on Tuesday (March 13), Rodrigo partnered with the Missouri Abortion Fund to distribute free morning-after pills from the brand Julie. She also reportedly handed out condoms.
Julie launched last year in the wake of the Supreme Court's overturning of Roe v. Wade with a mission to "replace the stigma and shame often associated with emergency contraception with access, exploration and education."

Since 2022, the state of Missouri has faced a near-total ban of abortions, making Olivia’s bold act all the more GUTSy.
"We're thankful for artists like Olivia Rodrigo and initiatives like the Missouri Abortion Fund who share our mission," a ep for Julie said in a statement following the show.
But Rodrigo's efforts go beyond providing contraceptives at shows. A portion of ticket sales from the entire GUTS tour is being donated to abortion funds nationwide through her new Fund 4 Good initiative.
The fund partners with local chapters of the National Network of Abortion Funds to "ensure those most impacted by systemic racism, misogyny, and healthcare barriers can get the reproductive care they deserve."
Throughout the GUTS World Tour, Rodrigo has provided in-arena harbour to local abortion groups, and while previous stops on the trek have similarly included the handing out of contraceptives, the efforts in Missouri — where abortion has faced a near-total ban since 2022 — sparked headlines Wednesday due to how close it comes in conflict with state law.
“It’s brutal out here in Missouri, but we are here for abortion access and hand out Plan B,” Missouri Abortion Fund, who, along with pro-abortion group Right By You, distributed the free Julie emergency contraceptive pills.
“It hasn’t been lost on us that there’s been more coverage over Plan B than there has about funding abortion,” Robin Frisella, Community Engagement Director at Missouri Abortion Fund, told Rolling Stone.
"Supporting abortion funds has never been more critical, in an era where abortion access is under relentless attack," added Oriaku Njoku, executive director of the Abortion Fund Network. "We are excited to be in partnership with Olivia Rodrigo, as she's uplifting the critical work of abortion funds."
This is not the first time the vampire singer has vocally supported abortion rights. At the Glastonbury Festival in June 2022, she called out the Supreme Court justices who overturned Roe v. Wade during her Glastonbury set, saying "We hate you" and "I'm devastated and terrified that so many women and so many girls are going to die because of this."
