Mourning TideMourning Tide play Children Of The Swarm at Bonaparte’s Hotel on Saturday.
Mourning Tide are an up coming hardcore from the beautiful one-day perfect the next, Gold Coast.
So how'd you guys get it all together?
Vinny, Mourning Tide's guitarist, fields this question.
“Mourning Tide has been together for 5 months and previous to this we were all in other bands. Josh (drums) and I played in a band called 39 Short and things weren't going right so we decided to take a new direction and we saw that fellow members Tyrone (vocals) and Shane (bass) were seeking the same goals we were. So became Mourning Tide.”
Why the name change and why the name Mourning Tide?
“Well there has been no name change because it is a brand new band, a lot of people think it is 39 short re named but it is a whole new project.”
You guys are based on the Coast, what's the scene like there?
“We have found that the support from the Byron Bay Hardcore crew has been awesome and the scene for Hardcore is defiantly getting stronger on the coast.”
Tell me something interesting about the coast that other people might not know?
“Some really good hardcore bands are down this way and one to check out for a good dance would be Think Str8.”
What are you out to achieve with your music?
“Wherever it gets us we will be happy. As long as we are putting in 100%, having fun and the crowd is enjoying it.”
Why do you guys wear matching outfits on stage, someone told me you guys were sponsored or something?
“That's another mix up with 39 Short. They had clothing sponsors etc but we all where the same uniform to bring each other in as team and we all feel like a stronger unit when we hop into that uniform. Also for our style of stage show it is the most comfortable thing we could wear. It wouldn't feel the same without them.”
I noticed Tyrone has a straight edge tattoo, what influenced that choice for you? Is anyone else in the band straight edge?

Tyrone says. “I never really got into the party scene even before I new what straight Edge was. So when I found out about sXe it really interested me and it wasn't hard for me to make the choice to dedicate myself to being Straight Edge. I'm the only one that's sXe in the band.”
