MICF Roadshow Perth Focus: Wil Sylvince

15 June 2016 | 3:55 pm | Artist Submission

What are the most important things to pack before a Roadshow? Bronze bust of Barack Obama, extra socks in case it gets lonely at night, a photo of me shaking hands with a shark (so the sharks know I come in peace), MiniDisc player, snake/crocodile skin boots so the reptiles know I'm dangerous too, a helmet to protect me from the magpies and dropbears.

What roadside attractions are you most excited about? Big Bogan, people wearing thongs to dinner, seeing the depth and breadth of local mullets on offer, and to experience firsthand Australia's world famous racism.

What's been your favourite stop so far? When I was in Taree, on the corner of Victoria and Commerce Streets, there was a stop sign that looked amazing. They must have put it up that day. The red was as red as Australian soil and the white was as white as Pauline Hanson.

Are you the driver or the navigator? I don't drive nor navigate but I schedule pee stops. Well, not me, my bladder does.

What's your favourite roadtrip movie? The Adventures Of Priscilla, Queen Of The Desert

What's on your roadshow playlist? Waltzing MatildaKookaburra Sits In The Old Gum Tree, a soothing recording of cockatoos mating I have on my phone, Advance Australia Fair.
