Kate & Steve Are Friends

Answered by: Steve Varley

Describe your show in a tweet? Kate & Steve are Mario Kart champs, footy coaches, rock stars, wrestlers and best mates. Or are they?

In a fantasy world who would you be the love child of? I believe I would be the love child of Flint Lockwood and Sam Sparks from Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs because I’ve always felt I belonged in an animated world where anything is possible, even castles made of jelly. Kate would be the love child of Ellen Degeneres and Meryl Streep because she’s an unstoppable force of hilarity that defies biology.

Why did you decide to do Fringe 2014? After producing a lot of large ensemble shows in recent years Kate and I wanted to do a show that was just us on stage being silly and funny for 50 minutes and we thought what better place to do this?

Tell us a bit about the creative team working on this project? Kate and I are part of a comedy production company called Aardvarks Anonymous that has been producing and performing shows in the Melbourne International Comedy Festival for the past five years. We are creators/writers/comedians with a mission to produce hilarious original Australian comedy that will bring joy and laughter to all we encounter.
