More Glitoris More Glitoris

Canberra-based four-piece Glitoris ain't mincing words when it comes to their latest single, Spit Hood, a fierce dissection on the current state of our criminal justice system and police brutality. They proudly state the track is a "a raging ‘FUCK YOU’ to those in law enforcement abusing their positions and the authorities who fail to hold perpetrators accountable. A fearless scream for justice in the face of widespread political apathy," and we are here for it.

It's taken from their debut album, which is currently being put together ahead of a release and national tour later this year. Until that time though, they're currently racing around the country with Australian legends Regurgitator, and took a minute to answer a few questions to prepare yourself for one of the fiercest live forces in the country right now:

Tell us about yourselves?

We’re fast, furious and fearless individuals holding a mirror up to inequality. That’s Glitoris.

What kinda tunes we talkin’?

Punk, pop, metal and glam. We put on an unforgettable show that makes you inspired and enraged at the same time.

Production/writing process:

We spend last year writing our debut album on weekends at the coast and late night rehearsals. It's our best stuff yet, and our tour audiences have been responding really well to the new tracks. Usually our songs are born when one of us walks into rehearsal ranting furiously about some political issue or life event. Then we get to work making it a Glitoris anthem.

Production-wise, we recorded our album with Jay Whalley from Frenzal Rhomb in Sydney, who was just fabulous at extracting gold from us. It was mixed in Canberra by magic ears Clem Bennett and mastered in London by genius Mandy Parnell.

Can you tell us about your new single, Spit Hood?

Spit Hood is a ferocious attack of failings in the criminal justice system. Spit Hood is a protest track about the over-representation of aboriginal people in youth detention centres. It’s an attack on individuals within our criminal justice system, who continue to abuse their positions of power and get away with it. We’re sick of the lack of accountability and wide-spread apathy. Spit Hood is a way to remind the public that this issue needs attention.

Any shows coming up?

Yes. A tonne. We’re mid-way through a national tour supporting Regurgitator. We’ve just played huge shows in NSW, ACT, VIC and TAS, and we’re heading to SA and WA next weekend, followed by a QLD weekend after that. It has been freaking amazing! We’ll also be touring our album in November around the country if you missed us this time.

What’s the rest of the year have in store?

We’re pumped to be releasing our debut album in October, followed by an east coast tour. We’ve been working hard writing, arranging, recording and producing our new record, so now is the time to share it.

Where can we hear more of your music?
