LA-based producer ZHU's been showing everyone what a capable artist he is recently with his Genesis collaboration series, that's he's been releasing on his GENERATIONWHY.COM website (that has a cool but complex process featuring a Matrix-y crosswordy thing). We've already heard Automatic, featuring AlunaGeorge, Testarossa Music, featuring Gallant, and As Crazy As It Is, featuring Kezmandi. On Monday, ZHU has shared a teaser of his Bone Thugs-N-Harmony collab - one of the more eagerly anticipated collaborations on Generation Why when it appeared in the crosswordy thingy, with fans eager to hear how ZHU's style would mesh with that of the hip hop legends.
A quick teaser reveals that it's meshed pretty damn well - Hold Up, Wait A Minute is a funk-driven arrangement, defined by a thumping bassline and jazzy keys. The iconic hip-hop quintet's vocals are presented in symphonic style. Just like Automatic, the song contains a brass highlight (handpicked by ZHU): this time, instead of a smooth sax solo, it's a trombone feature from New Orleans' Trombone Shorty, a 29 year-old whose a bit of a star in the jazz world right now.
