Back with their second single of the year are Eora/Sydney’s Velvet Trip, who today unveil the luscious and layered sounds of Silly Boy, injecting some summer vibes into the middle of the Aussie winter.
Pairing shimmering guitars and sparkling synths with a groove laden rhythm section, Silly Boy is four minutes of psychedelic indie pop goodness, with lead singer Zeppelin Hamilton’s ethereal vocals swirling in the mix.
Speaking on their new single, Hamilton says “Silly Boy is a tongue-in-cheek jab at viral skits, social media, and 15 minutes of fame. I used to make viral internet videos until things got a little out of hand. It took hitchhiking around Australia, a crocodile farm in Darwin, and breaking my foot in Indonesia to call it quits on that part of my life. Fake it till ya make it baby!”
Silly Boy follows on from recent singles Moving On and It’s Only Human that scored triple j play, countless playlist additions and reaching the coveted number 1 spot on the AMRAP Metro Community Radio charts.
The latest taste of their forthcoming album Harmony Blooms, out November 3, Zeppelin explains “In my head, making an album was going to be an easy task - write some songs, record them and buda bim bada boom... Glastonbury haha. After a pandemic, breakups, band members leaving, broken bones, health scares, 3 AM remote mixing sessions and spending all my money on microphones whilst learning how to use logic... I guess it wasn’t that easy. For it to be finished and ready is already a big achievement for us in itself and we are very proud. This album represents growth, exploration of identity, heartbreak, friendship, resilience, and a lot of love.”
