Fans of the likes of ODESZA, Flume and cln. are encouraged to listen to PINES, an Adelaide electronic duo who create electronic music somewhere in the realm of trip-hop and future beats. Consisting of self-made producers Adam Dormand and James Kenneally, PINES hit the limelight with their remix of KLP’s track Medicine earlier in the year, following that up with their very excellent debut single All You Need and support slots for Icelandic act Kiasmos and Australian heavyweights The Aston Shuffle.
PINES’ new release, Fate, is another sonic-awakening, stocked with shimmering synth textures and a multitude of sleek, uplifting drops, as well as some more organic piano and strings sounds to layer it with a relatively unique natural tone.
Along with the release, Adam Dormand said, “We’re very much inspired by angelic sorts of tones when it comes to vocals. In this case, we played around for a while experimenting with vocal tones, sounds and pitching effects to arrive at a unique vocal that suited that track perfectly. We thought it was only fitting that we’d name the track Fate”.
Peaking at #2 on Hypemachine last week, PINES are receiving a wave of Soundcloud activity, including reaching over 80K plays with this release, and will be dropping another remix in a few weeks, so check your music radar for more of their superexcellent electronica.
