I’m sure like myself; the majority of you struggle to remember what on earth you got up to three days ago. Recently, in a moment of clarity, I was warped back to the summer of 2012 where I spent time interning at an electronic music agency here in Sydney. Funnily enough one of the artists on their bill was a messiah-looking youngster by the name of Lancelot (Lance Gurisik).
One of the more vivid memories from that time was when I was invited along to the very first Electronic Music Conference (EMC) Showcase. A night designed to showcase the talent of some Australia’s brightest up and coming producers. Hosted on the top floor of The Star Casino I was treated to an evening of top-notch tunes, none better than the Jesus look alike who charmed the crowd with 30 minutes of silky house. Note: preceding Lancelot came a little known spectacled artist by the name of The Kite String Tangle, who in recent times has released some real magic. Over two years on and Gurisik is now based in London, storming clubs and studios with his pleasurable dance sounds. Givin’ it Up and Ain’t Nothin’ Goin’ On But The Rent first put him on the map - both very fine grooves, produced with clinical precision. Mover is no different, a sturdy 7-minute epic, consisting of a grinding bass line, tribal vocal cries and rhythmic high hat combinations. This one is the first off Lancelot's upcoming EP out through Waze & Odyssey’s Sweet Tracks imprint.
The most pleasing thing to see is that Lancelot hasn’t waivered from his attention to detail – listen in and you can tell he’s labored over all elements of the track to make it sound just as good as it does. Get deep with a talented Aussie below with the full Mover EP:
