Listen: Errol H. Tout - Small Window, Large View

13 track album from the Perth guitar virtuoso receives posthumous release & launch celebration announced.

One of the state and countries finest guitarists and most forward thinking composers, Dr. Errol H Tout’s new album Small Window, Large View has been released posthumously today.

Errol passed away last November following a courageous 10-year battle with cancer, showing resilience as he recorded four albums during this period, including Small Window, Large View.

Recorded during 2021 and 2022, the album features Errol’s son, creative collaborator and music curator Sam Tout, who oversaw the album’s completion. Alongside Errol’s mesmerising guitar and Sam’s work on keys, the record also features Roy Martinez on bass and Ric Eastman on drums, rounding out an extremely talented quartet.

It’s what he would have wanted,” Sam says of the posthumous release. “He spent the past few years working on it, so it would have been a tragedy if it didn't get finished.

To celebrate the life and music of Errol, the album will be launched on January 16 at The Ellington Jazz Club, where songs from Errol’s entire catalogue will be performed by guitarists Glenn Winter-Smith, Graham Greene and Greg Dear, with Ric Eastman on drums and Sam Tout on bass/keys.

All proceeds will be donated to cancer research. Tickets available here.
