We’ve been big fans of Ruby Marshall AKA ENOLA for a little while now, getting to know them last year with their single Strange Comfort and featured them in our 20 Australian Artists to Watch in 2023 list.
Now ENOLA returns with their first single of the year, Looking Back, while also announcing their highly anticipated new EP, All Is Forgiven, set for a November 3 release. The EP will also feature previous singles Strange Comfort and Metal Body.
Melancholic and melodic, Looking Back pairs understated drums with shimmering guitars and a running bassline, building to anthemic, sing-a-long inducing chorsues, resulting in four-and-a-half minutes of addictively atmospheric post-punk sounds.
On the single, ENOLA shares “This song, to me, speaks of the need to be gentle on yourself, forgive yourself, forgive everyone and let go. You do not need to suffer or come close to your own mortality to truly appreciate the moment in front of you, life is too fleeting to hold onto so much guilt and shame, and things that no longer serve you.”
