The highly anticipated debut album from the New-Zealand group, accompanied by a huge run of national shows..
Four years ago we were introduced to the youthful energy and loud fun sounds that are Bakers Eddy, an endearing and revered New-Zealand band who today release their debut album Love Boredom Bicycles. With years of chemistry under the belt - the outfit starting to jam together since high-school, the albums thirteen up-beat fun sounding tracks represent how far the group has come musically, whilst lyrical content digs a little deeper into some of the more painful aspects of what it means to be human, to grow up and remain optimistic in a changing world, capturing the groups growth as songwriters.
Nostalgic and irresistibly charming, the album is bursting with hooks and humor, frontman Ciarann explaining that “The whole record is supposed to sound like the life of the party, ’Concertina’ is the kick arse opener where you walk through the doors and everyone’s vibing and having a great time. And then it takes you through the journey of this party and then you’re left at like 5 o’clock in the morning, with like 2 or 3 people around, you’re gonna have a beer and go to bed. And you’re just reflecting, like, ‘That was a sick party, yeah.’”

Written whilst in lockdown in their share-house studio, Bakers Eddy transformed their raw demos into masterfully captured recordings with Oscar Dawson (HOLY HOLY) that translate undeniable energy and cohesiveness as a band. On the release, the group share “Honestly it feels like such a relief to be finally putting this record out. Not only because of COVID pushing the release back, but ever since we were little kids we talked about how cool it would be to one day have an entire album that was our own, that we made ourselves without compromise, and to actually see and touch it is an emotional thing, especially after the fuck around we’ve copped over the last two years”.
Accompanying the release comes an epic 25-date tour around Australia kicking off in June. With multiple tour and show cancellations over the past couple years, the band are ecstatic to finally be hitting stages and bringing their sensational live energy to audiences. You can find the list of tour dates and ticket details are below.
Bakers Eddy are ready to be loud and have some fun in a city near you, but until then be sure to give the delightfully boisterous and unhindered new album Love Boredom Bicycles a listen below.
