Leaps & Bounds: Emily Ulman

29 June 2015 | 5:10 pm | Staff Writer

When did you start making music and why? I started making music last week after hearing that artists will now get paid during Apple Music’s free trial thanks to Tay-Tay, and I want in on that sweet $0.0002 per stream action!

Sum up your musical sound in four words? Steph Curry three-pointer swish.

What other events/gigs are you looking forward to at Leaps & Bounds? There’s so much on offer that I feel a bit like a kid in a candy store. But I am also the candy? I dunno how that works. I like candy.

What do you think is the best thing about a festival like Leaps & Bounds? It’s tough to say. Some days I wake up thinking it’s the Leaps, but other days I feel like it’s the Bounds – some days it’s both!

What are your favourite places to hang out in the City of Yarra and why? There’s a great candy store in the CBD, I walk in and feel just like a music fan looking at the Leaps & Bounds festival line-up.

Why should people come and see your band at Leaps & Bounds? It’s a multi-sensory extravaganza. Those senses are sound and vision, as in you look at me while I play. Extravagant!

When and where for your Leaps & Bounds gig? Mon 6 Jul, Kent Street with Jacky Winter; Tues 7 Jul, The Gasometer Hotel (In The Round – Songwriter Sessions at The Gas); Thurs 9 Jul, Conduit Arts with Abigail Ulman (reading); Tues 14 Jul, LongPlay with Baby Blue (solo); Wed 15 Jul, Richmond Theatrette with The Grapes; Sun 19 Jul, Some Velvet Morning with Liam Gerner.
