Joanne Brookfield — Then This Happened

Answered by: Joanne Brookfield

Describe your show in a tweet? People sit. Performer enters, tells story. People laugh. We all hug at the end, quit our jobs, move into a commune together and grow kale.

Why did you decide to do Fringe 2015? Because I’m trying to find a way to get Oprah’s attention so maybe she’ll adopt me.

Tell us a bit about the creative team working on this project? This is my third solo show. Last time I was in Adelaide (I’m from Melbourne) was with my show Princess Pissy Pants The Greedy Cheese Eating Bitch and Other Naughty Dog Tales which was about my dead dog. I’ve had a few years off so I can’t wait to premiere my new show at Fringe, because it’s one of the best festivals in the world.

In a fantasy world who would you be the love child of and why? Oprah and Gayle, but enough about fantasy, because my reality is pretty cool at times. And I mean cool in a literal, temperature-related sense – fricking freezing, actually. So in my show I’m talking a bit about Antarctica because I spent almost three months living on a ship down there with Sea Shepherd.
