Ivey, Lost Ship And More Throw Up Shakas For Shakafest

Arguably the Australian home of the cheeky shaka, Gold Coast's upcoming Shakafest celebrates all things great about street, skate and surf culture, with a sweet line-up to go with it.

Headed up by Drapht and Dune Rats, we chatted to some of the acts on the bill about half-pipes, tagging (though we don't condone defacing things!) and the almighty waggle of the fist.

Lotus Ship

When's the last time you threw up a shaka? Probably when I caught that sick as wave the other day and just got smacked and heaps pitted.

Trapdoor

Who are you keen to check out at Shakafest? Keen to see the big dog Drapht tear it apart, and we have never seen Dune Rats so we will definitely watch them.

If you had a tag, what would it be? #shaka

What's the best thing about the Gold Coast scene? The quality. The scene is so small, but the scene is filled with quality artists that are blowing up like Lastlings, Peach Fur, Lotus Ship, Von Villians and more.

If you had a tag, what would it be? A Grand Carrera, though I'm a big fan of all watches made by TAG. The simplicity of the model just screams old school and class.

When's the last time you threw up a shaka? Last week on our Instagram, and just now.
