Brisbane artist Maïkee makes music that makes you feel good, and his latest single 'So Tonight We'll Dance' is pop perfection.

Sometimes, you stumble across a song that just speaks to you. It cuts right through to your very bones, getting into your bloodstream to make you really feel it. It's exactly this feeling that I got when I heard Maïkee's latest single, 'So Tonight We'll Dance'. Complete with a very fitting video, 'So Tonight We'll Dance' is a cut of pure escapist, heartfelt pop, and I cannot get enough.

From the sparse opening, your attention is immediately captured and as the song builds to its first technicoloured drop, you can't help but go all in with Maïkee expertly leading the way. Emotive piano keys collide with an explosion of crisp percussion and Maïkee's sublime vocals, creating the ultimate dancefloor filler. With the visuals set in the iconic Beat nightclub in Brisbane, this also serves as the first music video to be filmed in the legendary venue. Amping up the whirlwind tale of romance Maïkee sings about in his song, the two characters dance under the disco balls and fall for each other as Maïkee steals the show with his own captivating performance on a grand piano. It's a perfect pairing which takes this special single to even higher heights.

For fans of MIKA, Perfume Genius, or even Carly Rae Jepsen in how unashamedly pop it is, 'So Tonight We'll Dance' is the ideal song to help you dust off those cobwebs from isolation and get ready to come together with those you love once again. Fiercely proud of his queer identity, Maïkee's power lies in his completely infectious embracing of himself, and 'So Tonight We'll Dance' is all the proof you need to get on board. It goes without saying that we became instant fans after hearing this single, so we took the chance to get to know him a little better. Who are you?

I’m Maïkee (pronounced my-key) and I’m a proud gay man from Central Queensland, who currently resides in Brisbane.

How did Maïkee come to be?

I grew up queer in a small country mining town in Central Queensland, my family went to church every week so I started singing in the church choir, playing the piano and organ there and writing music. I moved to the city to study classical piano with a Russian master, then fell in love with singing because it’s magical. As I great into my skin, grew confident with myself and my sexuality, I grew into Maïkee which is a vehicle to create love, freedom and liberation amongst my community.

What are we talking, vibes-wise?

Imagine if LANY, MIKA and PERFUME GENIUS had a love child, it would be me.
