Last night, Fred Again.. shocked fans when he returned to Australia for the first time in a year, putting on a surprise show at the Sydney Opera House.
The gig went ahead with under twelve hours’ notice and sold out in three hours. However, the ticketing platform was crashing, informing fans that tickets had already been allocated quickly. At one point, over 120,000 people were trying to buy tickets to the Sydney Opera House Concert Hall, which holds approximately 2,600 people.
As you can see in the images above, the room was completely full. The British DJ was working with limited lighting and production as the space was needed for rehearsals at 6 pm, and doors for his show opened at 9:30 pm. With what was possibly the most-hyped gig of the year going down last night, you wonder: how was it?
The Sydney Opera House has likely never seen so many people dance and jump simultaneously. Social media reports saw fans admit that they’re not sure how they scored tickets to the hottest gig of the summer, but they’re pretty damn thankful to have the venue turned into “our very own Boiler Room”.

As we announced earlier today, Fred Again.. will perform arena shows in Melbourne, Sydney and the Gold Coast next month. He’s set to play three shows at Melbourne’s Rod Laver Arena on March 4, 5 and 6, a pop-up exhibition at the Gold Coast (rumoured to take place at Doug Jennings Park on March 9), and three shows at Sydney’s Qudos Bank Arena on March 12, 13 and 14.
He’s also previously mentioned via Instagram Stories that he hopes to play at some small, independent venues, suggesting that more pop-ups are in the works.
Tickets for the arena shows are set to drop on Thursday (February 29) at 9 am for Melbourne, 10 am for the Gold Coast and 1 pm for Sydney via Ticketek.
