Mountain Goat has been brewing craft beers in Richmond since 1997, but it's been a very long time since they've opened the doors to the public on a weekend. On Saturday 30 July they are doing just that, along with their mates at Exit Brewing, BrewCult and Fury & Son.
Where better to drink a pint of beer than in the belly of the same brewery with some delicious food? Hardcore carnivore? The team at Burn City Smokers are on board with their pop-up grill. Vegetarian or vegan more your thing? Mountain Goat pizzas have a number of choices for you. Gluten not your friend? They have gluten-free bases too.
If you don't drink beer other choices are available, but the knowledgable Goat staff (and the other breweries) would love to chat through the beers with you. Just like wine, there are many different styles of beer — it's possible you just haven't tried the right one yet. Find out even more on a brewery tour. Hosted by the Mountain Goat brewers, you'll learn all about how beer is made and what makes four simple ingredients so delicious together.
Tickets are $10 which sees your entry covered, a pint of Mountain Goat beer and a chance to win a Mountain Goat Barrel Breed Barley Wine twin pack, containing a bottle each of the 2015 and 2016 vintages. Last year's release was awarded the Champion Beer at the 2015 Australian International Beer Awards and sold out immediately — this is a very very rare chance to take a bottle home.
