Hot Spot: South Melbourne Night Market

The South Melbourne Night Market is in full swing, and this year it's bigger than ever.

Until 10 Mar, the South Melbourne Market will host a Thursday night smorgasbord of food trucks, local live musicians and performers, stalls of handmade products/crafts/fashion, a pop-up bar, Mini and BMW Motorcycles display and more. Some of the market's regular stalls and restaurants will continue trading late on Thursdays too.

Start off with a cocktail or glass of wine at the pop-up bar at SO:ME Space, the market's retail and design hub selling stylish and functional homewares and more.

The Proper & Son food hall, Turkish restaurant Koy, and the Simply Spanish restaurant provide more of a sit-down, chill out, catch-up, dine-in experience.

Food trucks are getting next level, with a food truck covering every idea, meal and cuisine thinkable. Try the fried chicken from C'est Chick (buttermilk fried chicken tenders or crunchy, juicy Korean fried chicken drummies and wings — but they also have burgs and wraps) and the sliders from Sliders On Tyres — we recommend The Fisherman: fried spiced tender calamari, crisp lettuce, lemon mayo. For dessert, Miss Molly's Cakes will serve up decadent cupcakes and Bianco Latte Icecream has exactly what you need to keep your taste buds happy and your insides cool.

If you're bringing little ones, there's the PaintRight Kids Club to keep them occupied. Or if you feel like being pampered before or after dinner, Miss Nail Bar will be open for all your mani and/or pedi needs.

Those summer nights, indeed.
