Newtown Social Club has unveiled its new look Ground Floor, complete with a fresh new food and drink menu. There'll be no sticky carpet and grotty walls here, with the nostalgic Victorian charm of the building fully restored, creating a warm and welcoming environment in which to eat, drink and hang out — not just a convenient place to grab a bite before a gig.
Ground Floor is divided into a bar, a bright 50-seat dining area (with booths! And a vertical garden!) and a new cocktail lounge with retro tables and chairs that's under the stairs leading up to the band room.
The solid new wine list includes a number of organic and biodynamic wines and locally produced spirits, and the cocktail list covers all tastes. As for food, weekly specials will please those on budgets and Ground Floor have introduced a meatball-focused menu: choose your meatballs, sauce and side for $19 (there are vegan/gluten-free 'meatball' options too!). Finally, you can choose your own syrups and toppings on the churro and ice cream dessert.
