Tkay MaidzaWith the wait for her long-awaited TKAY follow-up drawing longer, Australia's hip-hop queen Tkay Maidza has been experimenting a little, collaborating with producers from both here and abroad to create little nuggets of clubby, experimental gold. Do It Right, her 2016 collaboration with long-time French producer Martin Solveig, saw her dive into the realm of anthemic and club-ready house, while collaborations with Basenji and UK PC Music prince Danny L Harle saw Maidza's vibrant and bubbly vocals combine with boundary-pushing productions which are yet to grow old.
Her newest track is a feature with LA-based Fool's Gold producer Hoodboi – well-known amongst the underground, primarily-LA-based club market – titled Glide, which this time, sees Maidza take on a more R&B-leaning role above Hoodboi's future-funk production. It's a pairing comparable with Kaytranada and Goldlink, with Hoodboi crafting an effortlessly smooth and slick funk production that gently wobbles underneath Tkay's quick-firing verses and R&B-tinged chorus, which further displays her versatility as a vocalist and collaborator as she continues to rise on an international level.
