Have You Heard: Melancholy Flowers

18 October 2016 | 4:14 pm | Artist Submission

When did you start making music and why? We started jamming together eight months ago. At the time, we wanted to sink our teeth into a new project and were drawn to the idea of experimenting with a completely different sound.

Sum up your musical sound in four words? Theatrical alt-pop fusion.

If you could only listen to one album forevermore, what would it be and why? Michael (our guitarist) likes Disturbed's Ten Thousand Fists, because it mixes soaring melodies with syncopated rhythms. For Jasmine (lead singer), Queen's Greatest Hits. Freddy Mercury's vocals are eargasmic perfection and the songs are timeless.

Greatest rock'n'roll moment of your career to date? We are pretty chill people, so no guitar breaking on stage yet! We did spot Iron Maiden's guitarist at a gig once, so that was special. People say we put them into a kind of spell when we play.

Why should people come and see your band? We're not what you'd really expect from the Sydney music scene. You can't really put our sound in a genre.

When and where for your next gig? 15 Oct, Town Hall Hotel (for Chicks With Picks); 23 Oct, Mr Falcon's.
