Fresh Finds: Class Of 2025 – Aussie Acts To Add To Your Playlist

Have You Been To: Ez Eldin Deng

Artwork title: Inner Beat

Site number and location: 19, Miss Gertrude, 150 Gertrude St

Sum up your arts practice in a tweet: I’m a passionate filmmaker whose desire is to produce stories that unify and connect people to bring about change.

Describe your piece for the Gertrude Street Projection Festival: Poetry through visual light and movement that connects Fitzroy’s Indigenous Australian roots with the new branches of African refugee communities.

How did you get involved with GSPF? As a Fitzroy resident of eight years I have witnessed the festival first hand and felt challenged to participate and reflect my own people who are so much a part of this street.

What works are you excited to see at GPSF? I’m looking forward to seeing everyone’s projects and most of all seeing my grandmother in my projection so that she can feel welcome in this country!

What are you working on at the moment? Currently I am working on two other video-based public art installations with Cohealth Arts Generator for the Inner Beat series. The other two will be presented in public space at Arts Centre Melbourne from 9 Jul for four weeks.
