Name of institution you studied at: SAE Institute
Years attended: 2010 - 2012
What course did you study and why? Audio Production. I had played in a band called The Scare since high school, touring the world, making records. We called it a day in 2010 and I was exhausted but wanted to get deeper into the recording process to try to figure out a new trajectory for myself within the industry.

Why did you choose to study at this particular institution? I applied for scholarships at SAE, AIM and JMC, but SAE was the one that I followed up with because friends who had studied there previously recommended it. After weeks of hounding them and one successful interview, I was awarded the ambassador scholarship so it became a sure thing.
What's the one piece of advice you got during your time there that you still follow today? "Garbage in, garbage out. You can't polish a turd so always make sure that what you're recording sounds good on its way into the signal flow."
How did your course prepare you for the real world applications of what you studied? The focus on communications was a big help. Understanding the need for successful communication skills and starting to think about the manner in which to conduct myself in professional environments was really helpful. And of course, the access to professional equipment was a huge help.
Give us the quick resume version of what you have done since finishing studying. I have composed and produced original music for three American feature films as well as five short films in varying genres. Since moving to NYC I have built a small studio from which I work full-time as a freelance composer for commercials, branded content and films.
