American metalcore group The Devil Wears Prada are returning to Australia for the first time in nearly six years this August, accompanying Aussie heavy kings Alpha Wolf on their rapidly selling Half Living Things headline tour.

At the time of writing, Alpha Wolf’s tour has sold out six dates across the country, with the last two gigs up to limited remaining tickets. You can find all the tour dates and venues below.

Since The Devil Wears Prada last toured Australia in November 2018 – for the With Roots Above And Branches Below 10th Anniversary Tour – they’ve released two albums, The Act (2019) and 2022’s Color Decay.

In March of last year, the band dropped a deluxe version of Color Decay, commenting on the release: “We've been so proud of and grateful for Color Decay feedback, and with that, we’re releasing our first deluxe edition in 15 years. Listeners have all chimed in with favourite tracks, and we’ve cooked up a bunch of videos; fast forward, we figured we had no choice but to grow the Color Decay universe even bigger.”

In 2022, vocalist and guitarist Jeremy DePoyster also revealed the album that changed his life: Linkin Park’s Hybrid Theory. You can revisit that feature here.

To celebrate the band’s return, DePoyster – a frequent visitor to Australia at this stage in his career – has shared his favourite Australian tour memories.

DePoyster sends love to Aussie icons Parkway Drive, recalls the moment his bandmates still tease him about, enjoying the Bondi beaches, the night the police showed up when they were hanging out with fellow American band Gideon, and getting a bogan education. Check out his memories below.

Five of Jeremy DePoyster’s Favourite Australian Tour Memories

GIDEON & GOSPEL

Our craziest Australian show was probably when we played a show at BANG in Melbourne. We had never met the guys in the band Gideon before, but we met them that night, and we kind of fell in love with them! We partied pretty much all night with them, and then we went back to someone’s house that somebody knew, and we walked over to this park and sat in the park drinking wine while every guy in Gideon sang old gospel songs at the top of their lungs until four in the morning. And I think the cops showed up? It was pretty funny. I love those guys!

PARKWAY DRIVE MILESTONE

One time we played Riverstage in Brisbane with Parkway [Drive] on their big headline tour, it was the first big one that they had done. That was a pretty iconic moment just for the genre in general. We also played Parkway’s high school that they all went to, in the gym of the high school. That was really sick to be there for that one!

FROM SOUNDWAVE TO TARGET

Another time, we went to Australia for Soundwave Festival, and I left the stage different to everyone else. I was like, “I just need to walk around for a second”. It was a really cool show, and I just wanted to absorb it, so I left the stage and got lost on the festival grounds. I couldn’t find the guys so I ended up leaving the festival grounds. I didn’t know where I was and walked all the way around.

Then later, one of the guys called me, and they were like, “Dude, where the hell are you?!”. And I was like, “Dude, I’m at a Target right now. Literally, I’m at a Target”. I ended up finding the back security entrance, and someone told me where to go, but they’ve never let me live that down. If I ever go somewhere apart from the group on tour, they’re like, “Don’t call us saying you’re at a Target!”. That was crazy.

ABANDONED BONDI BEACHES

We stayed in Bondi once at this really cool Airbnb-type thing, and there was an abandoned beach, no one was there. So, we just went out there and we were swimming amongst these huge rocks and stuff. We almost died. But that was really cool; we really felt like locals just kind of swimming out there by ourselves.

A BOGAN EDUCATION

We had a driver once who taught us about what bogans were. And so then we just started calling each other bogans the whole time, and we were requesting VB on the rider so we could be proper bogans. It’s a horrible beer! But we loved it. We drank cases of it. You have to think and drink like an Aussie to be like an Aussie, I guess!

The Devil Wears Prada will open for Alpha Wolf on their Half Living Things tour next month.
