More Bluesfest More Bluesfest

In the lead up to the Byron Bay Bluesfest we spoke to some of the 200 artists who will be performing over the five day festival, which kicks off on 24 Mar. We found out five fun and wacky things about Chain:

  1. They were named by Wendy Saddington in 1968 after Aretha Franklin's Chain Of Fools.
  2. Toward The Blues, Chain's double gold album from 1971 is one of the longest-running permanently released albums in Australian rock history, lasting through vinyl, cassette, CD and now online releases.
  3. In the early '70s, members of Chain played on dozens of well-known albums of other artists, commercials and TV show backings.
  4. After their dope dealer was busted in 1969, they gathered up the butts from the garden and stayed stoned for more than a week.
  5. Nowadays, Chain's dressing room will most likely have tea, coffee and herbal tea instead of Jack Daniels and joints... And no-one smokes at all now!
