What is Fear & Delight? Fear & Delight is the ultimate multi-layered party experience like nothing the Fringe has seen before. There are three different ticket levels for three different experiences. The Complete Experience ticket takes participants on an amazing journey through theatre and food, starting off with a Heston Blumenthal-style dinner by Amsterdam chefs The Dutch Food Slingers, followed by a spectacular circus show by elite international performers, and finishing with a wild after-party at our purpose-built cathedral of hedonism, The Devil’s Lighthouse, featuring a rolling line-up of top DJs and musicians with cutting edge cocktails by London food architects Bompas & Parr. Then there’s The Show ticket, where you skip the dinner and just do the show and the party, and those who just want to dance all night can skip all of it and head straight to The Devil’s Lighthouse every night from 10pm.

Tell us more about The Devil’s Lighthouse. It’s our very own pop-up nightclub in the middle of the Garden Of Unearthly Delights. It’s an authentic weatherboard gospel church, the type you’d see in the southern states of America – it was actually used as such in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. You don’t have to buy a ticket to the main show to enter; plus you can rub shoulders with the artists, it’s like getting the best bit of the party! (If you can’t go to the Oscars, you at least want to go to the after-party, right?)

What was the inspiration behind the name The Devil’s Lighthouse? It comes from a lyric by London electro duo The Correspondents, whose music provides the base and inspiration for the show. It’s the beacon for all things devilish.

What can we expect from Bompas & Parr at The Devil’s Lighthouse? Totally wild, hedonistic, sexy cocktails the likes of which you’ve never seen before! Bompas & Parr have created a monochromatically inspired menu of drinks as a sort of cocktail sideshow for The Devil’s Lighthouse. All the drinks follow the black and white theme of Fear & Delight and play with ideas of light and dark, good and evil. They’re also using some awesome and out-there ingredients from ancient exotic flowers (Mind-altering? Maybe!) to holy water.

Which DJs and musicians should we expect at The Devil’s Lighthouse? We have a super exciting line-up of DJs and top musicians including Gotye, Guy Pearce, Ben Walsh from The Bird, Andrew McClelland and of course The Correspondents, pictured. More will be announced as the season kicks off so keep an eye on the Fear & Delight Facebook page!

What part of Fear & Delight should we be most excited for? Definitely the electro-swing party mash-up that is The Correspondents. They’ve played Womad and Glastonbury and toured with people like Lily Allen and Basement Jaxx, and they really go off.

Are there any plans to grow this event in the future? There are plans for possible tours to Brisbane, Melbourne, Munich and Brussels; keep an eye out.
