Face The Music: Laura Semple

"How do you switch off? If you're not careful every gig can turn into a 'networking' event."

Position: Director, SEMPLESIZE/freelancer

How did you first become involved in the music business? I first got my foot in the door when I started promoting for festivals in 2010 when I was in my late teens.

What's your area of expertise and what experience do you have? Digital marketing, social media and music publicity. I guess you could say I'm a professional Facebooker. I've been working in the industry for three years and I'm currently studying a Master Of Communication.

What topics will you be mostly talking about at Face The Music? I'll be talking about social media, managing an independent music blog and music online in 2015.

What do you hope to personally take away from Face The Music? I'm looking forward to in-depth conversation with my panelists who are among some of my favourite people in online music in Melbourne.

What's one question about the music industry you'd love to have the answer to? How do you switch off? If you're not careful every gig can turn into a 'networking' event.
